Street intimidation and (sexual) transgressive behaviour not only occur at night, but also during the day on the street, in the workplace, and online. Annually, two out of three women and one-third of men deal with this. In the nightlife area of Groningen, the figures have been alarming for years. Additionally, we see that too many people in Groningen feel unsafe at home, often women who are faced with threats, abuse, or stalking by an (ex-) partner, sometimes even resulting in femicide. Student & Stad finds it unacceptable that so many of our residents do not feel safe.

We acknowledge that a lasting change in behavior is necessary to combat street intimidation and (sexual) transgressive behavior. Therefore, we advocate for a targeted, multi-year approach.
We are doing everything possible to stop relational violence such as coercion, control, domestic violence, or femicide as quickly as possible.
