Groningen is a vibrant nightlife city, and we want to keep it that way. Everyone should feel free and safe during a night out. At the same time, we see that severe incidents in the Poele and Peperstraat are increasing, (sexual) transgressive behavior occurs too often, and some streets and alleys need a facelift. By investing in social control, education, and a pleasant design of the nightlife area, we make the Groningen night safer and more enjoyable for everyone.

SAFE GOING OUT
We ensure a better atmosphere and more social control.
We continue the use of 'Safe Spaces' at events so that visitors always have a safe place to go.
We implement collective bans on horeca, so that troublemakers and criminals are banned from all affiliated bars and cafes.
We are realizing a Night Town Hall: a safe place in the nightlife area for shelter, rest, and support. During the day, this location can be used for low-threshold drug testing and information on safe substance use.
We are improving streets and alleys in the nightlife area with better design, good lighting, and cameras, so that oversight and safety increase and escalation can be prevented more quickly.
We continue to engage in dialogue with the hospitality sector, the Night Council, police, and nightlife creators to work together for a safe Groningen night.
