SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY

SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY

About 21% of emissions in Groningen come from vehicles. Therefore, we prioritise clean mobility. Walking, cycling, and public transport need to become more prevalent. Shared transport and zero-emission vehicles should be easily and affordably available.

SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY

We encourage walking, cycling, and public transport in our mobility policy. These modes of transport are cleaner, safer, and healthier than car traffic.

We support shared mobility, hubs, and combined transport. This way, everyone can travel sustainably, even without their own car or scooter.

We promote zero-emission and hybrid driving. We are establishing a comprehensive network of affordable charging stations. The municipality is making its own vehicle fleet more sustainable and ensuring that all public transport is fossil-free by 2035.

We encourage distribution hubs on the outskirts of the city. Stores in the city center are supplied as much as possible with small electric vehicles. This makes the city safer and cleaner.
