Without night, there is no day, and the Groningen nightlife is unique. No closing times, everything within walking distance, and a diverse offering. A nightlife that needs to be cherished and strengthened. Yet we see that regulations sometimes poorly align with practice, that the night is often not taken seriously as culture, and that the diverse entertainment options are diminished, leaving mainly bars with Dutch hits and expensive beer. Additionally, there must be attention to safety in the nightlife area. The number of severe incidents occurring at night in the Poele and Peperstraat has increased, and the perceived safety of partygoers in Groningen has significantly decreased. Furthermore, (sexual) crossing of boundaries is a major problem, and discrimination at the door still occurs. Finally, many streets and alleyways in the nightlife area look neglected during the day and at night, which has a proven negative impact on the safety and image of the nightlife area.

We keep Groningen's nightlife without closing times. Groningen remains the city where you decide how late you want to go home. We invest in a diverse and more inclusive nightlife with space for different music and subcultures. We are expanding subsidies for nighttime creators because nightlife culture deserves the same support as the rest of the cultural sector. We are also allocating funds for the 'Nachtvisie'. We reduce, clarify, and ease regulations.
