ART & CULTURE

Art and culture give Groningen its unique character. They make the city lively and attractive for students, locals, and visitors. At the same time, the sector is under pressure due to tight budgets, limited space, and the loss of venues. We want Groningen to lead in making culture visible. It starts with showing courage: courage to creatively utilize vacancies, to create space for makers without a permanent stage, and to structurally embed culture in municipal policy. This means investing in large institutions, but also making room for small-scale initiatives, young emerging artists, and for visible culture in every neighborhood.
