Student & Stad want the municipality to take active action, better protect tenants, and provide clear information about rental rights. Everyone should be able to live safely, affordably, and with certainty, whether you rent from a corporation or privately.

TENANT PROTECTION
We are making more money and capacity available for the Rental Support Point↗ and the 'Pandbrigade', so that tenants are better assisted and problematic landlords are checked more often.
We revoke rental licenses in the case of serious violations. Properties are temporarily placed under municipal management and sold to reliable landlords; tenants are protected and supported.
We keep social housing and student accommodations affordable by supporting corporations with low-interest loans and investment funds for construction and purchase.
We assist private landlords and homeowners' associations (VvE) with sustainability through subsidies, loans, and advice, so that tenants benefit from lower energy costs.
We establish a legal costs fund so that tenants who have already been granted their rights by the rental committee can approach the subdistrict court without financial risk.
We limit short stays to truly temporary situations and review permits to prevent displacement of student housing.
We combat fraud by developing a verified room rental platform (for example, integrated into 'Groningen Huurt'), so that students can safely find a room.
